Frequently asked questions

Yes — TwoOfUs uses Sign in with Apple. It’s the only sign-in method, so there’s no extra password. Your Apple account keeps your data private and syncs it through iCloud.

One of you generates an invite code in the format XXXX-XXXX. Share it with your partner, who enters it in their app. Once the code is accepted, your devices are paired and your widgets start syncing.

On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area until the icons jiggle, tap the + (or Edit → Add Widget), search for TwoOfUs, pick a size and place it. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, select a widget area and add the TwoOfUs widget you want.

The Distance widget needs location permission to work out how far apart you are. Open Settings → TwoOfUs → Location and make sure access is allowed. Both partners need location enabled for the distance to appear.

You share one note of up to 100 characters. When you write a new one, it replaces the old one and your partner gets a notification. That’s how a quick “thinking of you” lands right on their screen.

The Partner clock shows your partner’s current local time with their name and city — ideal for long-distance relationships across time zones. It’s derived from their location and updates every minute, so you always know whether it’s morning or midnight over there.

The flower card is a date invitation you unwrap: you choose a date idea, write a card, tie a bouquet from flowers, paper and ribbon, and send it off. Your partner unwraps the bouquet in the app and finds your card inside. They can accept or suggest a different time; TwoOfUs converts the times into both time zones automatically. Accepted dates can be added to your iOS calendar, and the countdown starts on its own.

Only the two of you — and even then, only at the right moment: your answers are stored sealed. Your partner sees them only once you’ve both submitted your answers, and vice versa. Then both open at the same time. Everything is stored in your private iCloud, which no one else can access.

A shared jar for the loveliest lines from your check-ins. When your partner writes something that deserves to stay, you drop it in with “Add to jar”. Later, either of you can draw a slip and read it again, any time. Skipped check-in weeks are fine — the jar keeps filling anyway.

In your private iCloud database at Apple. Apple enforces access server-side: only your two Apple accounts can reach the data — no one else, and that includes us. There are no servers of ours and no tracking. You’ll find the details in the privacy policy.

Only if you want it to, and only to write: after an accepted date invitation you can tap “Add to iOS Calendar”, and the app creates exactly that one event. TwoOfUs never reads your calendar.

When you share an invitation as a link, the invitation data is encoded in the link fragment — the part after the #. That fragment never leaves the browser and isn’t sent to any server. The link is visible only to the people who receive it and expires after the date.

“Always” keeps the Distance widget and Partner clock current even when the app is closed. “While Using” works too, but only updates while the app is open, so widget data can go a little stale. For the smoothest experience, we recommend “Always”.

You can sign out any time in the app under Settings → Account, where you can also delete your account along with its data. For questions about permanent deletion, write to jakobsworld@web.de and we’ll take care of it.

TwoOfUs requires iOS 26 or later. If your iPhone runs iOS 26 or newer, you’re good to go.
